KS-ISO-Levelling Blocks
Applications
KS-lSO-Levelling Blocks are made of calcium silicate with a high compressive strength and low heat conductivity. They were developed specially for the bottom-most layer of bricks in order to prevent thermal bridges. KS ISO Levelling Blocks can be used in the following applications:
bottom-most layer of bricks on the ground floor (e.g. as levelling block) in external walls for unheated basements;
bottom-most layer of bricks for interior walls above unheated basements;
bottom-most layer of bricks for interior and exterior basement walls in heated basement;
bottom-most layer of bricks for interior and exterior walls for buildings without a basement;
top layer of bricks for interior and exterior basement walls for unheated basements and insulating layers under the basement ceiling.
Advantages
KS ISO Levelling Blocks may be combined with all KS block formats thus realising all structural and architectural-physical advantages of uniform KS brickwork.
High compressive strength - the rating of the slim wall is possible without special certificates.
The laborious positioning of insulation layers in the ground - especially for unheated basements or buildings without basements - is reduced to a minimum.
KS brickwork is not combustible. This favorable characteristic is a result of the components of the building materials and the manufacturing process.
The threat of mold growth or condensate water damage is considerably minimized due to the increased wall surface temperatures.
Savings
The following savings potentials are attainable when using KS ISO Levelling Blocks for the bottom-most layer of brickwork in the exterior wall and interior walls on the ground floor: Energy savings according to EnEV 2002 (Energy Savings Act) of up to 5% and up to 8.5% for especially energy efficient houses.
KS-ISO-Levelling Blocks are produced in the apparent density classes 1.0/1.2 and the compressive strength classes 12/20. The values for thermal conductivity lambda-r are 0.27/0.33 W/(mK), according to publications in the Federal Gazette.
Use.
KS-ISO-Levelling Blocks are laid by hand in normal mortar (MG III). The butt ends are placed directly against each other without mortaring the joints. The tongue-and-groove system allows for easy arrangement of the blocks. The grey coloring of the bricks prevents mistaking the levelling blocks for other calcium silicate bricks when installing.
